Design And Implementation Of The Opened And Digitalized Museum's Information System

Museum is an institution that cares for a collection of artifacts and other objects of scientific, artistic, cultural, or historical importance. It e exhibits the public goods to social. With rapid development of economic, technologies of computer science and communication, the digitalized information revolution has been broadcasted to all over the world. As an information dissemination center, the museum faces the challenge to innovate and renovate its information system to fully utilize computer technologies and the open characters of internet to present itself in front of people more efficiently and artistically. This renovation and innovation is the opened and digitalized museum′s information systems which is talked about in this paper.Compares to traditional museum system, the new opened and digitalized museum′s information system mainly do the improvement from "information","digitalized " and "opened" these three perspectives. Through "information", we could improve the daily work efficiency of the museum staff; through "digitalized", we are able to implement virtual reality to meet the increased demands of virtual tour and to enhance the museum's marginal effect; through "opened", we can take the advantage of Internet open platform to publicize and popularize museum.This paper illustrates the disadvantage of traditional museum system and analyze the necessarily of an opened and digitalized museum′s information systems from a theoretical point of view. Later it tries to explore the design and implementation from a technical point of view. This museum system is developed with J2EE platform and Web3D virtual reality technologies. It provides the functionalities of collection management, approval process, office automation, document retrieval, security control, system monitoring, virtual reality development platform, third-party development interface, integration platform and etc. In addition, to achieve software high availability standard, this system adopts the cluster architecture.
