With the rapid development of Chinese economy, the automobile users increase rapidly. Meanwhile, this also brings more problems such as traffic congestion, car theft, and many other problems. These problems make some people begin the study of Intelligent Transportation Systems ITS (Intelligent Transport System). As one of the most important parts of intelligent transportation, vehicle-mounted navigation and anti-theft system have important significance to for solving the problems such as traffic jams and vehicles lost. The maturity of embedded technology, global positioning system (Global Positioning Systcm,GPS) and general packet radio service (General Packet Radio Service,GPRS) technology provides the technical support to the production of vehicle-mounted navigation and anti-theft system.This thesis first elaborates the situation of vehicle-mounted navigation and anti-theft system both at home and abroad. Then the author gives a overview of embedded system and also gives the type selection for vehicle-mounted navigation and anti-theft system for the software and hardware platform. At last, the author designs the vehicle-mounted navigation and anti-theft system according to the requirements of vehicle-mounted navigation system: small volume, low power consumption and high performance.Based on the above ideas, the author of this paper first analyzes the car navigation and security systems development at home and abroad, and analyzes the basic embedded theory, then gives the specific design of the hardware design and software design solutions, and finally gives the experimental results analysis of the system. The results show that the realization of the design requirements.
