The global economy has entered a rapid developing age. Enterprie users, especially in the manufacturing field, need more information technology support. The challenge is to quickly respond the customer's individual requirements. So the information technology in the field of Production is continuing to innovate. "Agile manufacturing", "flexible manufacturing", "just in time production", "Collaborative Production" and other concepts have been widely recognized and vigorously promoting. And them integrated into the ERP, SCM, CRM, APS, MES and other related software. Enterprise through these software system, can incorporate marketing, suppliers and related business partners into their enterprise daily management. These Information Systems Allow enterprise uesers had the ability to quickly understand the external market and their own operations, overall arrangement of various categories of resources in order to respond quickly to customer demand. International and major domestic steel companies. Such as U.S. Steel Union, NSSC, Bao Steel, etc., in the process of information technology, and gradually formed a "ERP MES PCS" for the enterprise information system architecture.This paper describes the emergence and development of MES system, and analyzes the iron and steel enterprises in China's MES status. Through the iron and steel enterprise MES system design and main functional modules described, leads to the main problem we must deal wiht. This paper focuses on the MES system integration with ERP systems, MES system integration with PCS systems, and the code integration.This paper take the important production lines -'coil rolling mill'as an example. From production management, quality management, warehouse management, shipping management,'coil rolling mill line'management and the application instance of the information integration platform of control system, We Analyzed the whole business processes of steel makers, and under the precondition of affirming the overall objective. Detailed module functions and implementation approaches are also presented in this paper. Aimed at the main function modules, the running results and the functions implementing methods are presented.After then, the thesis introduces the structure of both hardware and software on the servers and clients which is used in this project. The Hot-Rolling module for MES system is simply designed. The function modules include: Manufacturing Plan Management, Manufacturing Facts Tracing, Material Management, Quality Control, Storage Management and Reports. The thesis also gave out the fact which shows profit will be brought to steel enterprises after the MES system is implemented.Finally, there are concluded with a summary and some future research areas in this thesis.
