Design And Application Of GPRS-based Automatic Meter Reading System

Automatic meter reading system is using the computer system to read and process electric meter data. The GPRS technology has the remarkable advantages such as strong real time. It is adapt to use for data transmission. In this paper we design and implement a GPRS-based general remote automatic meter reading system.Based on detailed analysis of user needs and existing problems in current automatic meter reading systems, we suggest a better solution. By scheme coparision, the communication schemes of RS-485 bottom bus and GPRS top bus which meet to the requirement of the automatic reading system are chosen in this thesis. By TCP/IP protocol alnd GPRS network analysis,the Internet access scheme of concentrator is designed, which realizes the data auto-reading from data colletion point to remote host.The system has the characteristics of low cost, simple implementation and easy to extend. It applied in the actual production, greatly reduce enterprise meter reading efficiency, and to ensure the metering accuracy and dependability, improve the level of enterprise management and service quality, and a good solution to the universal meter and expand practical problems such as communication ability.
