In February,2009, IBM proposed the "Smarter Planet" concept firstly. In August,2009, Premier Wen proposed the "Sensing China", and the Internet of Things willofficially to place on the national rising strategic industry. since the development ofthe internet of Things,the concept won much support among the people. In fact, It'salready appear in our life that the embryonic form of the Internet of Things. Such asThe Information Announcement System, Gate Control System, Building IntercomSystem, Security System, Smart Home System and so on, which have been developedmany years.These intellectualization of residential communities and homes are more andmore widely accepted by the public, but they also find that the use in practical lifedoesn't feel smart!The key reason is that many companies don't pay enoughattention to the user terminal equipment, so far the internet of Things just focus on thesensing and network level. As a result, each system and control terminal is separate,can not connect and work together. the point is very lethal for the home automationsystem user who based on the experience.Based on this, the paper studies the current development situation and the trendof home automation system. Then people focus on researching smart home terminaland summed up the main problems existed from the smart home terminal. And thenstrive to design and develop a cost-effective terminal, which can be completedfunctions in multiple system of information input, logic process, information output,intelligent control, a good GUI, and provide direct-viewing and humanized operation.The hardware of smart home terminal used modular isolation design, it dividedinto Building Intercom Bus and Smart Home Bus. These designs can be flexiblyapplied to the demand of multi-system of integration control. The main control chipused STM32which the kernel is ARM Cortex-M3. The software used theembedded RTOS, transplanted the FatFS file system. The terminal also can updatethe parameters by SD card, realize the GUI and touch screen control through theTW8823TFT screen's driver chip. In addition to choose the Cypress CY8C21434torealize the capacitor touch key. All of these assured a good operating experience tothe smart home terminal.The smart home terminal through a rigorous software, hardware and environmental test, which prove its fully meet the basic requirements beginningdesign, such as multifunction, good stability, high reliability, easy operation andconfiguration, cost-effective. The terminal make the family decoration become simpleand generous. Finally, the paper summarize the deficiencies of the terminal andperspect the future work.
