Pharmaceutical Logistics Information Management System Design

With the keener and keener competition on the pharmaceutical logistics industry in China, a systematic, effective and rational enterprise logistics system is becoming an essential factor in the upgrading of the core competitiveness of enterprises, tapping the third source of profit for enterprises. Under that situation, Chinese pharmaceutical logistics enterprises can be undefeatable in this keen competition only if they fully understand and well apply the management of logistics information. As the third source of profit, logistics management is to rationally organize the steps in the logistics such as procurement organization, inventory control and marketing management so that every step is done optimally. The logistics activities of pharmaceutical logistics enterprises are a link that links up the upstream suppliers and downstream customers. Pharmaceutical logistics operations are divided into three steps: procurement management, inventory management and marketing management. Only by effectively combining the three steps can an enterprise reduce the cost of circulation and improve the efficiency of logistics. To satisfy these complicated requirements, an enterprise has to rely on a perfect logistics information system. With the rapid development of computer hardware and the popularization of Windows operating system, with the application or large-scale database such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle and with the maturation of Internet and Intranet network technologies, the pharmaceuticals information management system has entered into a completely new stage of development. In this stage, the concept of supply chain management is beginning to be used in the pharmaceutical management information system. An information management system that complies with GSP Code of Conduct has become the core competitiveness of pharmaceutical circulation enterprises. With the support of a modernized information management system, the manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers and retailers together build a complete supply chain transaction platform, forming a supply chain community and supplying medicines to the customers with high efficiency and low costs. Along with the rapid development of China's economy, the further deepening of various reforms and the wholly opened up pharmaceutical distribution industry in 2000 following China's entering into the WTO, the existing layout of pharmaceutical logistics enterprises are gradually falling apart. Private, joint-stock, joint venture and foreign-owned enterprises keep entering into the pharmaceutical logistics sector and rapidly grow, making the competition in the pharmaceutical logistics sector keener and keener. A new layout of logistics is being formed. However, due to the restriction of institutional and historical factors, the pharmaceutical logistics industry in China is now still in the stage of low level and excessive competition. Through an analysis of the technologies related to pharmaceutical logistics information management system and an introduction to the construction and management of pharmaceutical logistics system, this paper gives a further exposition of the layout and implementation of pharmaceutical logistics information system in order to lay a good foundation for better understanding and application of pharmaceutical logistics information management.
