Since the high frequency of environmental events, Environmental journalism has been a kind of theme for journalism, journalist in this area is also facing much ordeal. This research employed Shanghai environment journalists as object, went deep into analysis of environmental journalist's career assess, and found out the progress of professional journalism from academic view.As a part of Chinese environmental journalists, journalist in Shanghai has their universality and typicality, reflecting the professionalization course of environmental journalism. The research discuss the vocation idea from the responsibility, right and interest angle. As a result, lack of technical knowledge is restricting the professional idea of journalist; also, despite of different media, journalists are under much regulation either from outside or inside; from the interest angle, journalist in this area can't get corresponding substantial and mental benefit. Thus, the journalist's professional vitality is affected by these aspects.In this paper, we deem that journalists should have a comprehensive idea for moving toward to professional aspect; inward, we should construct sturdy platform and mechanism; outward, we should consummate our educational system, refine the circumstance of environmental news, by this way, journalists can get the real basis and give scope to professional idea.
