Study On Reports Of Environmental Emergencies

At present, China has more and more environmental incidents, the environmental incidents increase by 10% in average every year. Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People's Republic of China received 108 reports of sudden environmental incidents in 2007. In such a grim situation, the media's reports of unexpected environmental events directly or indirectly affect the process of the incident, the credibility of media and of China's international image.This paper describes the status of environmental emergencies, take the past 10 years unexpected incidents reported in "China Environmental News 10" as object, summed up the focus of environmental emergencies and show the new features of the environmental emergencies over the past 10 years and try to find what the"fact"is. Next the article analyses the "double failure" situation and the public's demand for unexpected incidents reported and what kind of an opportunity the media environment changed brought about.Chapter III is the focus of this paper, the new changes from the content of the news, report mechanism, patterns and styles and the social function of unexpected environmental incidents reported over the past 10 years will be summarized. The contents of the report effectively the amount of information increased from the incident itself to the economic and social development of the social situation. In media reports mechanism, independent access to news and the establishment of rapid response mechanisms bring more news and make the reports faster. Environmental emergencies reported mode gradually formed, multimedia reports and the follow-up report of the investigation are in gradually increasing. The relationship between news media and the government is changing what are especially showed in the social function. Media help the Government resolve the crisis in environmental emergencies. Meanwhile, Media promote government policy changes and the introduction of relevant laws.Chapter IV of the report summarizes the deficiencies. Lack of effective information, lack of knowledge led to false reports, One-sided interpretation of environmental problems, the conflict of the "environmental protection" ring and objectivity of the news report, the environmental protection and economic simple binary opposition elaborate. Especially the last two are very easy to be ignored.
