On The Environmental Reporting Of Our Mass Media In Constructing Public Environmental Awareness

In recent years, the environmental protection has already gradually enteredinto our country' s macroscopic decision-making and system reform mainstream.As the bridge between government, the public and experts, the quality andeffectiveness of environmental reporting of our mass media could directly affectour environmental development. The public is the most important motivation insolving Chinese tough environmental realistic. Therefore, enhancing publicenvironmental awareness is not only the key job of government environmentalprotection, but also the direction of the mass media environmental reporting.This article reviewed both the world and our country' s environmentalreporting development course, elaborated concepts and characteristic relatedto environmental reporting, then analyzed the environmental awareness structurepattern and its internal relations. In view of present situation that the publicenvironmental awareness is generally lower, the cognition is not high and theparticipation ability not strong enough, the author attempts to explore reasonsand solutions from contemporary mass media environmental reporting research.First, this article through systematically content analysis more than 5,000environment reported in continuously 5 years "Chinese Environment Newspaper" and "People's Daily" form 2002 to 2006, summarizes our country environmentreport present situation and problems, then analysis its reasons. Second,theoretically expounding that mass media could construct environmentalawareness through the effective environmental reporting from angle view ofcommunication study and psychology communication. Moreover, through the massmedia environment report with the numerous environmental awareness relevanceresearches, from the real diagnosis angle further proving that the effect ofenvironmental reporting could affect the effect of environmental awarenessconstruction. The environmental reports that get close to audiences are goodfor environmental awareness development. Finally, through the influence ofenvironmental reporting effects, this article proposed comprehensive methodsthat could improve environment reporting and promotes environmental awarenessconstruction.
