How Newspaper Adopts Weibo News Sources

This paper treats Weibo(micro-blog)and Youth Daily as research object , conducts the study of how newspaper adopts weibo news sources through content analysis, in-depth interview, questionnaire survey and so on three kinds of methods. Adopted weibo news source on May to June 2011 Youth Daily, togetherwith the typical case of Jul.23rd train accident are selected to for the analysis of how weibo news sources affect the content of news paper. On this basis, to discuss how newspaper conduct the"gate keeper"mechanism towards weibo sources from the three aspects of"choice"," processing" and " balance" .After the research, it is visible at present stage that weibo doesn't occupy a dominant position of various news sources of newspaper, it is still only the supplementary content and extension of newspaper. However, weibo is becoming more and more important news sources. Further, journalists and editors prefer to look for news angle and carry out the planning topics through weibo. Meanwhile, as a new type news resource,weibo didn't substantially change the"gate keeper"mechanism of newspaper. Though weibo information is miscellaneous and difficult to distinguish, by the efforts of various gatekeepers, truly accepted weibo sources remain limited, which shows the newspaper controls the weibo news sources well. Weibo enriches the news sources of newspaper, makes reporters get information more easily ,however such richness also brings complex, the gatekeeper of weibo sources demand the editing staff of newspaper more professional requirements.
