Research And Design Of The Control System Of Metallographic Polishing Machine Based On ARM

As an all-round process technology, the metallographic polishing technique contains the advanced achievements of modern electron﹑ machine﹑ meterage and material. The metallographic sample can checkout the metal in microcosmic, also it is necessary in metallographic. We can manufacture metallographic samples by hands or the polishing machine. Along with the develop of modern electronics, the new polishing machines progress to the aotomatization mechanisms.The paper introduces the control system of metallographic polishing machine based on embedded Linux and ARM chips. The final intent of this research is making the intelligent control of polishing machine come true: for different metal ,we can polish it in different speed﹑time and pressure, so it will not destroy the form and identity of metal. By the combine of mechanical failure and electronical technique, we can enhance the produce efficiency. Also in the design, we can improve the speed and pressure system which makes the polishing process more smoothly.This design contains software and hardware to implement the control of metallographic polishing machine. The whole system forms by two parts: control system and menu interface. In control system, the ARM chip is master of one DC motor and one step motor. The DC motor dominates the speed and direction of polishing plate, the step motor dominates the pressure of polishing. And the menu interface includes two functions: display and parameters input. In the polishing process, we can adjust the polishing parameters which can find the best settings. And the display system can show the polishing parameters in real time. Using this control system, we can improve the work efficiency and reduce the load of workers.
