In the modern time, the iron and steel industry is the backbone of economy. Sintering is one of the most important technologies in the iron and steel industry, and the quality of sinter ore directly affects the output of blast furnace. So, it's very important to control the whole sintering process. The basic automation is already over all universal in the steel business enterprise, and the PLC becomes an ideal tool that carries out the industrial automation because of many advantages of itself. If we adopt the advanced computer technology and control theories to design, we can improve the operation, stabilize the furnace condition, increase the yield, lower the energy consumption, and improve the economic effectiveness.First of all, this thesis analyzes the principles and characteristics of the sintering process and the development trend of the control technology of sintering process at home and abroad, and introduces the major process and control principles of sintering production, and the characteristics and principle of PLC. Meanwhile, combining the major process of sintering machine, this thesis illustrates the components and control function of sintering control system in detail. Moreover, it partitions the process of batching system, sintering system and the product screening system respectively, and draws chart of process control. Then, in order to enhance the programming efficiency and readabilities of the program, this paper make use of STEP7 software that adopt modularization structure method to design and write system control program. So the program can be debugged and modified conveniently, which reduces the human resources significantly.Finally, the thesis discusses the characteristics of industrial Ethernet and field bus, based on which, we design and construct the network of the entire sintering system. This system fully adopts the hierarchical and modularized design approach, utilizes the advantages of Ethernet and field bus, and realizes the exchange and transmission of digital information between PLCs and between PLC and human-machine interface through industrial Ethernet, field bus technology and interface technology, so as to achieve the purpose of transmission and sharing of data between PLCs; We connect various input/output devices distributed in different locations with PLC through remote I/O device, in order to achieve remote control, receipt of input/output signals, sequence and interlock control of devices, and fulfill the objective of control the entire sintering production process.
