In recent years, as an effective method of knowledge extraction, data mining has been widely in the field of transportation,such as researching the regular operating pattern of urban road network, analyzing the spatial and temporal distribution of transport travel, getting mechanism for the formation of traffic congestion and so on. However, as the main data source of traffic data center in Guangdong Province,Floating car GPS system which exposed to outdoor will easily produce some defect data, such as incomplete data, redundant data, wrong data and so on. For ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the data analysis and mining results, it is necessary to assess the Floating cars GPS data quality. At the same time, it can provide valuable data for the analysis of specific transport topics such as vehicle, road, trajectory etc and make the analyst effectively to monitor quality of data form floating car GPS in Guangdong.To solve the above problem, the paper designs and implements a system for assessing the GPS data quality which produced by the floating cars driving on Guangdong Provincial Expressway. Firstly design the assessment indicators of original GPS data and the corresponding algorithms. Secondly, depending on the research needs for specific traffic subject field, such as vehicle, road, trajectory etc, the paper designs the corresponding assessment indicators and algorithms. Finally using the object-oriented analysis and design methods, through requirements analysis, preliminary design, detailed design, and coding, the system had been successfully made. Through the system, users can visually assess the transport data sets and select the normal data for the specific transport research. The traffic information management can also make some useful measures to improve GPS data quality using the system.
