The Research On Workflow Based Banking System

Workflow management system is one of the most rapidly developed technology in computer area recently. Its primary characteristic is automation of processes. Before workflow management system was developed, all the tasks were processed manually. Manual processing had many problems, such as deliver the document in paper, heavy workload, no status tracking, no document sharing, etc. Compared with manual processing, workflow management system helped to shorten the process time, improve the productivity, track the business process status, monitor the performance, save the paper and share the resources. Workflow management system becomes the indispensable software platform in the enterprise information environment.This paper firstly introduces the concept of workflow, workflow reference model, workflow management system.Based on the workflow theory, and the design objective of high performance, flexible and low-cost, we make researches on the lightweight workflow management system, as well as elaborate on its design and implementation techniques.The lightweight workflow management system is built by five service components: workflow engine, sign-on service, security service, interface service and robot service.The workflow engine is the core of the system, its design is based on WfMC workflow reference model. It provides procedural automation of business processes.Sign-on service implements the feature of sign-on once, auto logon everywhere. Security service provides user authentication and authorization.Interface service acts as a unified channel for workflow management system to exchange documents with external systems.Robot service provides a mechanism to manage the automatic tasks.The above service components are successfully applied to credit card application approval process of banking system. Due to the advantages of cost-effective, highly efficient and easy to learn, we achieved the best feedback from end users.
