Simulation data refer to data produced in the process of modeling and simulation activities, and other data which are helpful in understanding and handling simulation activities. Simulation data include system test datas, simulation models, expriment data, analysis data, validation information as well as documents, souse codes and metadata of simulation tasks. Simulation data are the production and core value of simulation activities. As a result of differents among simulation platforms, complexity of simulated systems and simulation process itself, simulation data have a variety of formats and editions. A huge amont of simulation data decentralized around the world. Without professional management, there is a high error rate in simulation data usement, and retrieval of resouse is very difficult, security and confidentiality of data cannot be promised, in the worst situation the data get lost. All of this debased the effectiveness and efficiency of simulation. This paper analyzes the characteristics of simulation data and gets the needs in simulation data management, designed and implemented the Simulation Data Management System(SDMS) using modern data management methods and techniques to ensure that the simulation data have a long-term preservation and maximizing utilization.Systems be simulated are very different and so are the simulation conditions and experiment platforms, which makes the difference in simulation data and data management needs. As a result, different simulation tasks often have individual needs. So simulation data management has been limited to a single or a certain type of simulation activities. After deep invesgetion and detailed analysis on the simulation processes, operating characteristics and sample survey data, the detailed simulation data management functional requirements are obtained, the Web-based integrated simulation data management method was proposed, overall design and system architecture are given. System uses the B/S model to minimize client configuration demands. Users can add, update or delete data in the system, can search for data from the exsting resouse. The system provides a support environment fo data sharing and reuse. The system store the data using relational database systems and file systems, users can quickly navigate to the target data.SDMS is a universal system in simulation data management. The basic unit in the system is simulation project. Simulation project is an independent simulation task. The system can be used inside a research center to management its simulation data, it suit also simulation data management among different research centers as a cooperation and data sharing platform. SDMS manages the data produced all through the life circle of the simulation, and make the data process more fluently. The usement of this system will avoid loss of simulation data, debase the error rate in data handling, facilitate simulation data sharing and reuse, improve the efficiency of simulation activities, and so promote the simulation progress.
