As an important part of intelligent community, security system takes active function in safe guard and property management. The traditional security system generally bases on single-chip microcomputer control and analog transmission technology, which has shortcomings such as single function, bad scalability and flexibility, and weak security. As the rapid development of the network communication technology, the embedded technology and the multimedia technology, people put forward higher request about the reliable stability and diversified function of security system. The traditional security system will be updated with new technology updated, then developing network, intelligent and digital characters will be an inevitable trend in the evolution of security system.Under the background, this paper designs a new kind of security system products for intelligent community which is based on ARM embedded technology. This system takes S3C2440A microprocessors with ARM920T nucleus as the core, outside the functional modules for auxiliary. And it uses digital network transmission so that speed is quick, the amount of transmission data large, the network nimble, the extension wide and security strong. The system which has overcome the shortcomings of analog transmission, has broad application prospects.This paper first introduces the background and the significance of research and current situations home and abroad, then makes discussions on the system scheme. Finally, the overall framework is determined. Based on that, the paper designs every hardware module,that is ARM, signal processing module of digital audio, collection module of digital video, network communication module, LCD display module of TFT driver and alarm interface. Afterwards this paper explicitly illustrates how to develop the system software, including establishment of embedded operating system software platform and design of the application software, so as to realize the intercom entrance, video collection and network communication function of the overall system. Hardware and software above use modular design for easy maintenance and update. Through debugging the paper reveals the final effects. In the end, the paper summarizes the preceding work and shows its prospect.
