The measurement of flow,temperature,pressure and position are four most important part in engineering measurement. In the civil economy, a great deal of wealth flows through the flowmeter day by day. For example, China can produce a hundred million ton of petroleum a year, an error of 0.1% or 0.2% will cause tens of million yuan. With recent development of embedded computer, continually improving of storage and semiconductor technology, due to its high performance,low power dissipation and flexible design feature, embedded system is being used more and more during the post-PC ear; meanwhile,in the instrument field,high-end users tend to put forward higher request on communication,data processing and GUI operating while holding strict standard on precision of the insrument.So,new 32-bit processors such as ARM has the very potentiol to play an important role in the instrument field,consumer electronics and industrial control systems.Traditional velocity signal processing system uses manual work or 8 / 16 MCU core processor to process data of signal, which has a disadvantage of inconvenience operating,low accuracy of dealing float data,poor signal communication,etc. Besides,common MCU code must be rewrite almost when every hardware part changes,which makes hard to upgrade instruments.This paper uses RISC processor S3C2440 of ARM9 series, carrying embedded Linux, expounded DQC-III type velocity signal processing system development process detailedly, and provides a method of using Embedded System in measuring devices application.The DQC-III type velocity signal processing system with Rotary Propeller Flow Meter proved to be effective during the test. It is superior in calculation precision, GUI, data storage,power management and network communications. It achieved satisfactory results.
