As a basic communication service, the short message service (SMS) has been greatly developed in recent years after several stage developments. Compared to the traditional communication way of phone calls, the short messages service is proved to be more convenient, express, instant with lower cost and higher efficiency.The SMS can be applied into many aspects, such as real estates, customer relationship management(CRM), pharmaceutical, insurance and banks, offering new express ways of advertisement and expanding business at a low cost. Moreover, SMS can serves as a customer service center and supply many increment business.According to survey, great accreditation and interest of the application of SMS in enterprises has been shown by numbers of companies. So it is really necessary to design a wireless data platform based on SMS, which can further the communication between employees & company and clients & company, save costs, promotes working efficiency and strengthen enterprise's competence. Then the SMS platform emerged.The highly dangerous chemical industry is the mainstay industry of our country. And it still remains an important problem of how to enhance the safety protection of chemical enterprises.Based on J2EE, We designed and developed a SMS platform which is applicable for chemical enterprises, focusing on the specifics. It can be applied for promoting the supervision and management of chemical manufacturing safety. Web Service is introduced into the system so cross-platform remote calls is available, and the SMS platform reach the function of logistic management, fire alarm, monitoring of manufacturing plants and alarm for production system anomaly.The success of development and application of SMS platform should be a great contribution to the chemical enterprises through strengthening safety management of manufacturing, achieving production automation and accelerating informatization.
