Wireless sensor networks (Wireless Sensor Network, WSN) is usually caused by a large number of autonomous and energy limited wireless sensor nodes, and randomly distributed in a specific area to monitor the implementation of monitoring and data acquisition task, and then to a specific wireless communication protocol will monitor the data to Sink node for monitoring personnel decision-making. Chain-based routing protocol (Chain-based Routing Protocols) has a easy to build and energy-saving features, but there are many common disadvantages, such as:network delay (Network delay time) and send data redundancy (Redundant data transmission) and other issues. In some real-time applications, the chain (Chain) of the transmission path is too long, often caused by network delay so that the data collected non-real time. Redundant data transmission is in the process of transferring data, not taking into account the relative position of Sink nodes, circuitous detour that allows data transfer to the Sink node, resulting in unnecessary energy consumption. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical chain routing protocol (Hierarchical Chain-based Routing Protocol), referred to as HCRP, to improve the shortcomings. HCRP protocol provided by BeamStar network architecture, will monitor the area is divided into many small regions, to construct the hierarchical multiple parallel short-chain to reduce data transmission delay and redundant transmission paths, the first elections in the chain, discarding the traditional rotation as a strategy to select the maximum residual energy of nodes to act as chain head. Meanwhile, in order to avoid large-scale area, different chain long distance data transmission between the first, leading to unnecessary energy consumption, we have chosen closer to themselves, and closer to the chain from the Sink node first as a forward node. After the short chain through the chain of head and members of the chain parallel operation constructed hierarchical multi-hop transmission path, to reduce the network transmission delay and data redundancy, and then save the node energy and prolong network lifetime. In order to validate our proposed routing protocol performance, we adopted simulation chain associated with the existing routing protocols were compared. Simulation results confirm that with the Enhanced PEGASIS, COSEN, compared with PEGASIS agreement, the proposed agreement HCRP reduced the average delivery delay of about 5% to 331%. Redundancy in the data transmission, but also reduced by about 10 to 94 hops. Survival time in the network, routing algorithm compared to other chain can improve at least about 2% to 47%; in particular, the scope of the monitoring area is large, the more is revealed HCRP energy efficiency agreement.
