Design And Implementation Of ZONE Database Module Of FCoE Switches

As the development of the Internet application, more and more data needs to be kept by network servers. And because of the increasing requirements for Servers' storage capacity, the internal storage can not meet the situation. Besides these, the reliability and rate in data transmission are increasingly demanding. So the Storage Area Network (SAN) technology provides massive data storage solutions. SAN has many advantages such as high speed, high reliability, good expansibility and simple management, so it has been widely used in the data center presently.The features of Zone can solve the problems above effectively, serves and disk arrays can be divided into zones which based on VSAN. The members in different zones can not communicate with each others, to achieve the purpose of access control.The Zone module is one of the basic modules of FCoE switch system which based on VSAN module.Zone database module is a basic module belongs to the Zone project, and provides interfaces for all other modules, such as merge module also uses these interfaces provided for the comparison and merge between two zone database. Zone database is responsible for responding to the user's configuration, storing and maintaining all relevant zone data information, and providing interfaces to access control. And access control is the most fundamental one provided.This article was completed to introduce the process and protocol theory of Zone database and Zone database management. The discussion is mainly about software requirements of Zone function as the protocol describes and the way to implement it. It is threaded by the protocols, with much more development details including analyzing, designing and project procedure, in the hope of providing some implementation details about the Zone function in FC protocols system and some utilities for the project developing method.
