Virtual reality technology is a computer system which employs computer hardware and software to create and experience the virtual world.compared with traditianal human-computer interface and window operation as well as multimedia,it provides the user with its strong immediacy,interactivity and immersion.At present,virtual reality has been widely used in CAD and manufature,simluation modeling,building,video design,cartoon games,military and aerospace and other areas.This paper focus on research of indoor stadium construction of virtual simulation system.Some key technologies in virtual stadium are studied in this paper,for example,scene modeling,scene organization,collision detection and the way of forming roaming route.On this basis, using OpenGL to designed and implemented a virtual stadium system.The main researches and achievements include:1)Three modeling technologies and their features are introduced and compared first,then the external 3D model structure and its operations are researched in the paper.2)BSP algorithm and the process of building BSP tree,traversal of BSP tree and its searching are described briefly for the purpose of scene organization and finding minimum subspace in the viewing position,which could serve for collision detection.3)BSP space division and AABB box detection method are presented based on the research of collision detection in roaming system.At first,minimum subspace are positioned at the viewpoint by the search of BSP tree,then AABB box method is employed to detect the collision state of viewpoint and object,in the end,each triangular patch of the object in the former phase of detection is detected to certain the state of collision and improve the speed.4)Route methods in the roaming and steel algorithm are studied in this paper,then by the analysis of cases encountered in the process of generating route to improve this method.This paper finally sets up stadium model using 3DSMAX and implements the roaming system using VC++6.0 and OpenGL method, the collision detection algorithm we proposed is proved to be effective.
