Electric power is a complicated and huge system, involving from the production, transmission, to the consumption and other link. Electric power equipment has not only electrical attribute information, but also has a geographical location and other information. As China's economic development and power industry's reform, power system management is increasingly complicated, in order to further satisfy power grid "high quality, safety, stability and economic" modernization requirements, not only need to deal with a large amount of data, but also to manage of graphical information and the topological structure of electric power equipment. The traditional management mode has less resistance in the geographical position information of electrical equipment, in the planning and operating of power grid, electric power equipment must be considered the spatial attribute information. Which technology in the scientific management of electric power equipment, become one of the difficulties to be solved in power system intelligent process.GIS technology has the spatial information management,data visualization processor, spatial topological analysis etc advantages, in the application of electric power system, Spatial characteristics of the electrical equipment has been fully demonstrated, greatly promoted the management of power system information visualization process.The system is based on C Sharp for development tool, to Arc / Info for GIS development platform, using SQL Server 2005 for database,developing electric power GIS with integrated secondary development of AE(ArcGIS Engine) components .It can Realize graphical editing, information query, spatial analysis, system management, visual display, and other functions. This article features is variety of visual expression, including contour visualization and grid rendering visualization, clearly and directly express the operation of the node, reaching the requirements of monitoring in grid networks on the whole.
