With the great development of railway industry, railway transport is already in full swing. Running on the railway for some time, locomotive will enter the locomotive depot for routine inspection which leads to a lot of locomotives in and out the locomotive depot as well as the inconvenience of management. To achieve the information management of the locomotive, locomotive depot needs to carry out the wireless location to the locomotives. So in order to realize the navigation of locomotives, each locomotive entering the locomotive depot will be installed on the locomotive depot electronic tag and intelligent management system of a locomotive which is composed of the using radio frequency technology, localization algorithm, and wireless ad hoc network should be used. This article will focus on locomotive wireless ad hoc network research in intelligent management system.Ad hoc is composed of mobile terminal nodes which are capable of wireless transceiving. The communication between Ad hoc is depended on the cooperation between mobile terminal nodes and accomplished by the way of wireless multi-hop. Used in military communications, environmental monitoring, disaster site temporary communications, Ad hoc which is characterized by decentralized, self-organizing, dynamic topology, multi-hop routing and so on doesn't need the supporting of fixed infrastructure and it can dynamically reconfigurable multi-hop ad hoc networks. While the dynamic changes in network topology enormously challenges the design of wireless ad hoc network routing protocol. This paper firstly summarizes the definition and characteristics of the wireless ad hoc network, based on which it is the introduction of their research status. Then, it introduces the key technology of Ad hoc which includes channel-access technology, routing technology, quality of the network transmission. Accordingly, this paper mainly interprets IEEE802.15.4 which includes the intercommunication primitive between PHY and MAC and the communication of MAC layer and MAC in nodes. In order to realize the low power consumption, IEEE802.15.4 is put forward. Nodes saving more energy, IEEE802.15.4 adopt CSMA-CA to reduce the collision of channel and decrease more power consumption. Then this paper introduces several typical route protocols of the wireless self-organizing network. This paper adopts M-AODV routing algorithms to find the aim node by the combination of IEEE802.15.4MAC link layer feedback mechanism and AOVD routing protocol. Combining the actual situation of Locomotive depot, Ad hoc is established according to the IEEE802.15.4 and M-AODV routing protocol. Finally, the software design can be made on NA5TR1 RF chip and ATMEGA644v. At last, based on the completion of ad hoc network system software design and eventually completed application compiled with debugging work. After the completion of debugging work, the entire locomotive wireless location network system should be respectively tested. The results showed that: routing the initiator can be a very good look to the destination node, and can be a good data transmission to the destination node; in single and multi beacon beacons circumstances, can achieve a good multi-hop transmission.
