| The main research object of this thesis is the new production flow of news collection and distribution under the new digital media based 'All-media'production work flow system (platform), which aims to increase the timeliness of news and moreover the competitiveness of the press firmWith the increase of competition in press industry, the scale of press operation has been continuously expanding, while the entire industry gradually become collectivized and computerized. As the timeliness is the primary factor of news reporting, along with the development of computing, networking and digital media technologies, digital media-based news and information collection and distribution systems will become important parts of modern press collectivization.According to the explanation on Baidu Encyclopedia,'All-media'is a new form of propagation that uses various presenting forms, such as text, audio, video, and network in an integrated manner on information transmission. It also uses text, graphics, sound, light, electricity to present contents of propagation in a comprehensive way.'All-media'is developed based on digital media. It converts different media data to binary codes that can be accessed, saved, and loaded by newly produced devices like mobile phones, iPod's, computers, etc. Thus it could replace traditional media which only gives audience single sensory like text, sound, or graphics.The word'All-media' was introduced in 1999 in both China and overseas at the same time. However as a new journalism terminology it was not widely used in journalism academia of China or other countries, until it began to emerge the field of news dissemination in 2008. The development of 'All-media' is in two types:1.'Expansion-oriented all-media' that focuses on richness and expansion of means, such as'all-media publishing', and'all-media advertising'2. "Integration-oriented all-media', which focuses on integrating multi-media factors whilst expanding new-media technologies, such as "all-media information center','all-media television', and 'all-media broadcasting'.This research work of this thesis mainly focuses on the construction of the production flow under 'all-media' platform as well as resolving some of the keys issues of news and information gathering and publishing. According to the model two specific sub-systems are designed, namely,'collaborative digital media assisted press news gathering system'and'collaborative digital media assisted press news publishing system'. Some of the key issues of those two sub-systems are also resolved, e.g. remote article submission in news collection and multi-media publish in news publishing.The remote article submission system enables editors and journalists to work remotely in different locations via emails over the Internet. Articles can be connected directly with the news collection and editing system within the headquarter. SQL Server database is also used in the data processing. Approved articles in the database are submitted directly to the headquarter system by a'remote client'. Multi-media publishing means that publishing information in not only newspapers but also new media platforms including Internet and mobile devices.This study introduces a whole media material collection and editing capabilities, the resources for the Group to provide a basis for restructuring. Making all kinds of media data are collected, processed, released as possible. The Group has a complete multimedia news operation process, without the help of other organizations or references. As all newspaper news gathering using the same platform, so the content can be collected to share with each other, the same scene of the news sent a reporter not to interview several times, thus saving a lot of manpower and resources, reduce costs and improve productivity.
