| The 2020 Tokyo Olympics,as a sports carnival that attracts global attention,provides the world with a stage for the appreciation of one’s civilization,and is also a grand event for the exchange of news and discourses.In the face of various emergencies and pressure from public opinion,the Tokyo Olympics under the epidemic has provided the media with a different reporting perspective than previous editions.Influenced by the epidemic prevention policy and restrictions of various conditions,news media have also undergone different changes in news production.The special reports reflect how the news media view the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.During the Tokyo Olympic Games,that is,from 00:00 on July 23 to 23:59 on August 8,2021,the English report texts of the official websites of Xinhua News Agency and the Associated Press were used as the research object,and the collected texts were manually screened and cleaned.Use Ant Conc to analyze the corpus word frequency of the selected text,and classify the report topics according to the frequency category.At the same time,use word count to classify in detail according to the number of fields to improve the statistics of report length and paragraphs.Coding the subject,source,sentence structure and discourse of the sample and dismantling it by category,to complete the construction of the macro and micro monitoring point coding table of news discourse icons.The text uses the news discourse diagram as a theoretical framework,and uses the sequential interpretation hybrid research method that combines content analysis and mathematical statistics to analyze the macro-level and micro-level analysis of the news discourse diagram for the research object,research findings,and reports from Xinhua News Agency.Relatively speaking,the theme is slightly monotonous.For some sensitive topics,a small amount or no voice is selected on the official news website,while the reports on events and personalities are obviously biased towards China.The reports of Chinese competitions and Chinese athletes occupy most of the space,and the content of the reports is mostly positive reports,presenting readers with a high and deep spiritual experience of the Olympic Games.In terms of the sources of information that constitute news texts,basically come from the first Hand sources,on the whole,control the sources of opinions more rigorously and have higher credibility.For different reporting subjects,the two news agencies have different preferences in the logical structure of writing and the power conferred by the reporting subjects.In general,Xinhua prefers to write texts with the information structure of English narrative style,while AP prefers to write texts with the information structure of English argumentative/explain style.This paper discusses the research results from the point of entry of English sports news international communication,and puts forward certain suggestions for the improvement of Xinhua News Agency’s English sports news foreign propaganda strength.At the same time,from the perspective of text writing,it provides a new idea of ??news structure for English sports news practitioners. |
