The interviewing right is placed on the agenda in China, as the external environment of news media is different than before, the characteristics and the social function of news media has changed, and the social status between journalist and respondent has become different , too. China has no Press Law , and no Interviewing Right Law, either. The news media's interviewing right originates from the Freedom of Speech and the Right to Be Informed stipulated in the Constitution, or other items provided in the administrative rules and regulations and the local law. They are the base of the news media's interviewing right. Nowdays, there are many objective limits in the practice of the interviewing right in China when the news media exercise this right, such as the limits from the administrative organizations, the restraint of the social interest and public good, the binding items of the laws or the regulations on the interviewing right, the threshold of the economic strength, etc. Meanwhile there are some subjective defects when the journalists executing this right, so it has caused the abusing and misusing of the interviewing right. In order to regulate and protect the such right, and promote the healthy development of China' Press Industry, it is necessary to set up a Press Law and reinforce news media's self-regulation to settle the awkword problem of the interviewing right, which has happened in practice now.
