Nowadays, no matter in the aspect of industry, agriculture or in our daily life, people are getting more and more reliable on computers. As a result, we can see software here and there, but the invalidation of the function of software may result in the great damage both on estates and lives. Therefore, people have paid more attention to the quantitative evaluation and prediction of the software reliability which can measure the quality of software. At present the key research on software reliability is the assumption of model and different assumptions may be suit to different models, however, which one is more reliable depends on whether this assumption is closed to the practical situation.Assuming that the software was sold, there was no newer edition, not consider patch problems and the failure rate of the software declined at the speed ofαeach month, a reliable and predictable model was raised by Pankaj Jalote and Brendan Murphy according to the fact that the reliability of software products which had been sold was improved in users'eyes. And after that in 2008 they put forward another newer model on the basis of improving the assumption of failure rate. Unfortunately, the assumptions of these two models were too rigorous and neither considered what role the edition upgrading of software played in software reliability. This article takes the attitude that each edition upgrading of software responds to the improvement of software's quality and plays an important part in the analysis of software reliability, especially on the projects, the model of software reliability is urgently required to check the edition of software. So we cannot ignore the importance of edition upgrading of software to ensure the software reliability, but on the other hand, with the edition upgrading going on, simple operation and comprehensive function which are brought about by the edition upgrading also brought in some new errors while we are trying to modify errors. On fully considering the effect brought by edition upgrading of software, modifying the decay factor of the original model, estimating parameters of the new model by least square method , emulating the original model and comparing with the new one , it is believed that the modified reliability model is more suitable to the fact.
