In today’s society, the software has played a very important role in a number of important areas such as aerospace, finance very large software system, and users tend to have high demands of its reliability and security. Software reliability assessment and prediction is an important research area of the effective means to ensure the quality of the software, but also software engineering. Reliability assessment and prediction of software is often built on the basis of the analysis of failure data and statistics, statistical knowledge to analyze the law, the establishment of a parametric model, and quantitative estimate of the reliability of the software on the basis of this model and evaluation. In the assessment and prediction of software reliability, often related to failure data collection, management of failure data, trend analysis of failure data, failure data processing, data analysis and statistics, parameter estimation, model selection, model improved software reliability assessment and prediction tool development and other issues, the current domestic and international research on these issues has research, but has yet to be further in-depth. Therefore, assessment and prediction of software reliability, both in software engineering theory or in practice, has a very important significance.For the above, this article first study the current situation at home and abroad, and analysis of the major problems facing the field of software reliability engineering, research on the concept of reliability and reliability model, summarized the characteristics of each model, use, use phase, followed by failure data collection steps, and the failure data collection, trend analysis method, model parameter estimation methods, and how to use the failure data analysis guidance model choice on how to properly select models proposed a comprehensive program to develop a software reliability assessment and prediction framework and process, in accordance with the formulation of the process of assessment and prediction, developed the software reliability assessment and prediction tools, the tools available failure data for software reliability assessment and prediction.After experimental verification, software reliability assessment and prediction program assessment and prediction solve the failure data processing in the field of software reliability, analysis, model selection problems, complicated model evaluation process software reliability assessment result is not satisfactory, poor prediction accuracy problems.
