The coherent detection and demodulation of LTE/LTE-Advanced systems rely on the channel coefficients. Therefore, it is important to estimate the channel information by using reference signal. However, because of the difference between CDMA of 3G systems and LTE/LTE-Advanced system which adopts OFDM as its basic transmission technology, the reference signal of 3G needs to be redesigned to adapt it to LTE/LTE-Advanced systems.This dissertation studies the LTE channel simulation model and compares the performance of several methods of channel estimation. Then, on the basis of the study of LTE reference signal,this dissertation studies the normal CP and extended CP in LTE-Advanced system. By introducing and analyzing the principle of several designs of reference signal and using computer to simulate the performance of them to compare the advantages and disadvantages, the dissertation shows that for normal CP, CDM/FDM mixed multiplexing pattern is the optimum. As for extended CP, this dissertation also studies a design choice of reference signal of Rank 1-2 and Rank 3-4.
