With the official launch of IMT-Advanced Standardization work, the major standards organizations such as 3GPP,3GPP2, and IEEE, have stepped up in the formulation of the relevant technical standards. As the most popular broadband mobile communication standard, long term evolution system would clearly be a major candidate for IMT-Advanced technologies.3GPP LTE-Advanced standardization research project was based on LTE. Then it started to study Candidate technology solutions for IMT-Advanced.This research project is a soft science topic item-"Development of IMT-Advanced Public simulation evaluation system". It belongs to the China Academy of Telecommunication Research of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The main work is based on the performance requirements and technical specifications of 3GPP LTE/LTE-Advanced systems. In this project, we designed and conduct LTE/LTE-Advanced link level simulation platform. Based on this simulation platform, evaluation on the key technologies and link level performance were done to serve to the standard-setting work.This paper is divided into four parts. In the first part, the paper described the development process of mobile communication, and introduced LTE/LTE-Advanced standardization work and their key technologies, then gave a brief description of the purpose and tools of link level simulation. In the second part, this paper researched the main MIMO detection techniques, analyzed their principle and characteristics, and compared the performance of different detection techniques. In the third part, this paper introduced the basic principle of the pre-coding techniques, and focused on the SVD-based decomposition of the pre-coding and codebook based pre-coding in LTE/LTE-Advanced, then compared the performance of two kinds of pre-encoding. In the fourth part, this paper studied on AMC and HARQ in LTE/LTE-Advanced, mainly focused on two mechanisms:CC and IR of HARQ. Then it analyzed the necessity of the combination of AMC and HARQ. Finally, it gave the link level model, and analyzed the performance of AMC and HARQ.
