Recent years, the concept of Intelligent Transport System and Vehicle Network emerged to improve road safety, reduce traffic congestion and enhance driving entertainment. The frequent, reliable and instant information exchange among cars is the key process to realize the network of vehicle. So it is significant to designate one appropriate communication mechanism. So far, the most popular communication standard is the IEEE WAVE/802.11p protocols. This protocol can adapt the dynamic topology architecture of the Vehicle Network and provide an efficient communication among running cars. But once the vehicle density is high, it cannot ensure the instant and reliable exchange of safety-related messages, which are very important in the Vehicle Network. The next generation cellular network, such as LTE, LTE-Advanced, optimizes the key system performance, such as system capacity, peak rate and transport latency, and bring in some new features, such as MTC, MBMS and D2D. Based on above discussion, this paper focus on analyzing the supportive degree of next generation cellular network for the vehicle network and propose an improvement scheme. At first, this paper briefly analyzes the mechanism of WAVE/802.11p, and prepare for the following simulation. Next, we focus on the key technologies and new features of the LTE/LTE-Advanced standard and discuss how to use these new features to support vehicle network communication. In order to research the transmission efficiency of safety-related messages, this paper builds mathematical models for both802.11p and LTE/LTE-Advanced. And analyze the simulation result to draw some conclusions about the feasibility to support vehicle network. Then the paper realizes a dynamic uplink data transmission mechanism for integrated VANET-LTE/LTE-Advanced heterogeneous wireless networks, which can overcome the disadvantages and composite the merits of the two mechanisms. Finally, we make series of simulations to verify the superiority of our mechanism by applying NS-3.
