Research On Thead Hoc Network Routing Protocol

MANET (Mobile Ad hoc network) is made up of many wireless routers and can be easily deployed without the help of any existing network infrastructure.Because of constantly changing topology, Ad Hoc networks can not adopt traditional routing protocols.AODV protocol is an on-demand routing protocol which is specifically designed for MANET, therefore the research and the improvement of AODV routing becomes a important part of the application of routing protocol in the Ad Hoc networks.Based on detailedly understanding the MANET characteristics, deeply analyzing the mechanism of AODV and thoroughly studying and evaluating the existing related researches,a more stable routing scheme is proposed to improve the AODV protocol.The scheme improve two aspects of the protocol.First, the Route Discovery Process can build a shorter route because the Forwarding Node choose a reverse route which has a smaller hop.Second, the paper proposes an mechanism named Monitor Route which establishes monitoring records on the neighbor node which is not in the active route.The mechanism can activate the route optimization and the route repair.We verified and illustrated the contrast of the AODV and the modified AODV through NS2 simulation.The results showed out that without any increase in network load the modified protocol can improve the packet delivery rate and reduce the average end-to-end delay.
