Meter-bus Protocol Automatic Meter Reading System Realization

With the improvement of living standards of our people, the development of property management, the evolution of the network technology and the communication technology and the continuous emergence of smart modern residential area, these bring forward new demands for the meter reading of water meter, electric meter and gas meter. The traditional meter reading way can't meet the needs of today's society. For the traditional meter reading system, there are a lot of problems, such as long construction period, wiring difficulty, high cost and so on. Now we propose the research of the automatic meter reading system which based on the Meter-Bus, to make up for the shortcomings of the current meter reading system. The Meter-Bus technology has been widely used in automatic meter reading, because the Meter-Bus technology has some features, such as long distance transmission, communications baud rate flexibility, and strong anti-interference ability.According to different functions, the automatic meter reading system can be divided into two parts, Concentrator and Line number controller. First, the background of meter reading system was introduced in this paper. Then, the concept and communication protocols of Meter-Bus were introduced. The function of the automatic meter-reading system, key technology, and lightningproof ways were also described. Finally, we give the results of the system testing, and give a summary and outlook, and then point out the follow-up tasks of the system.The tests showed that the automatic meter reading system can read the data of the meters accurately, and achieve the function of the system successfully. And it reflects the characteristics of the system, for instance, simple, stable and reliable, strong anti-interference and low power consumption.
