To develop undergraduates to be candidates for Communist Party of China (CPC), there is an indispensable training for all candidates. Candidates must attend courses, and on completion of those courses, they must pass an exam. Currently, most of those exams in universities still adopt a traditional method, which is not only materials and manpower consuming but also time consuming; what's more, it is less efficient and has a higher error rate by manual grading, especially for large-scaled exams, which impacts the quality of the exam. Today, with the rapid development of IT, computer technology has been used in all walks of life. Many exams, such as GRE, TOEFL, use computers for testing and grading. It has become a trend in using computer-related technology to develop exam systems. The present thesis focuses on how to manage effectively the exam for CPC Candidates through computer systems.Firstly, the thesis analyzed current situation and problems of the exam for CPC candidates. After comparing software system architectures and database platforms, it chose B/S architecture and SQLserver to construct the exam system. Then, based on the exam's workflow, it analyzed in details the needs for the exam system through process flow chart, UML chart and so on. Next, it divided the system into 8 modules: system login module, class administration module, trainee administration module, question base module, exam administration module, grade administration module, user administration module, system maintenance module. Finally, the thesis designed each module, including relevant design of database table and user interface, and emphasized on the design and illustration of the algorithm on automatic exam papers.By using relevant software engineering knowledge, the thesis starts from a practical problem, analyzes and constructs the exam administration system for CPC candidates. This system can improve the degree of automation of the exam, reduce the workload for relevant personnel, and improve work efficiency. Meanwhile, it can improve the exam's objectivity and validity by question base and automatic exam papers, which is supportive for the training. What's more, the system is expansible and can achieve automation for the whole training.
