Nowadays, the 3rd generation mobile telecommunications has developed prosperously in China. As Chinese own intellectual property 3G standard, TD-SCDMA technology enjoys wide and energetic supports during the last 10 years. At the same time, the construction of TD-SCDMA networks has made great progress as well. On the other hand, with the increasing number of subscribers, how to resolve the call fails, protect the quality of networks, becomes more and more urgent and important. Call trace system as a important subsystems of the OMC (Operations & Maintenance Center) can be used in resolving the call fails, promoting the QoS of the network, lay a good foundation for Quality Network.Firstly, this paper mainly expound the application of the call trace in the GSM and the 3G communication system, described the status of call tracking technology. And discussed how to solve the problems through the call trace method in the daily maintenance work. Analyzed and demonstrated the importance of the signaling trace in network maintenance.Then, we study the interface protocol of the IU,IUB and UU and propose a new signaling trace based on TD-SCDMA system. Compared and discussed the key issues. In the architecture design and requirements analysis phase, we divide the signaling trace system into two kinds of call trace, user tracking and interface tracking. So, in practical applications, use two track approach, resolve the network faults and problems quickly.At last, through the interface design, we define the key parameters. Test the system in the OMCR, the measurement results attain the design requirements.
