With the rapid development of the Computer and Information technology, Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology has been expanded rapidly in both civilian and military fields. Now it's widely used in communication, speech process, image process, biomedicine, industrial control, measuring instruments and other fields and becomes the heart of electronic systems. In the face of social and market wide-ranging needs, teaching and laboratory courses based on new DSP chip must be offered to ensure students could master the latest science and technology.Because TI's DSP products have high market share, low-cost simulator, sound technical support in our country and relatively low developing cost, currently most of the DSP course experiment teaching platforms in Chinese universities are based on TI's DSP. However, ADI's SHARC series DSP, which is recognized as the best floating-point DSP, running speed fast, on-chip resource and interface rich, especially suitable for experimental teaching comparing with TI's DSP, has not been used in experimental teaching platform in China. Thus, in this paper we made in-depth study of ADI's SHARC series DSP, designed and accomplished a set of floating-point DSP teaching experimental system based on ADSP-21369. The main works of this paper are as follows:Firstly, we analyzed development status of DSP technology and research status of experimental teaching system, pointed out the necessity of designing this system, and introduced the research and experimental plan. Secondly, according to the experimental teaching needs, system plan and function design were introduced in this paper, including DSP processor selection and the external circuit planning, and the design framework were given. Thirdly, the details of designed system were introduced including schematic design and verify of the SDRAM memory, FLASH memory, A/D sampling and conversing circuit, DDS signal generating circuit, analog audio module, S/PDIF digital audio interface circuit, LED monitoring circuit, UART module, LCD display screens, keyboard, JTAG and power module. Finally, at the base of basic hardware test, through software programming, we accomplished the debugging of most modules of this experimental teaching system and introduced the following work briefly.This experimental teaching system, which is designed with rich on-chip resource and interface, could realize all the experiments of DSP course. And comparing with the DSP experimental teaching systems based on TI's DSP, it is easily for programming and easy to learn on this platform which means it can fully mobilize the initiative of students, train the actual practical ability and enhance the integrated design ability of students. This system can be used as the DSP experimental teaching system for undergraduates, and also could be used in railway signal processing and other fields.
