Digital signal processor (DSP) has rapidly developed since its birth. It has been widely used in the aspects of communication, aerospace, medical, industrial control. The promotion and popularization of DSP are imperative for social and market demand. In order to make students utilize high-performance DSP processor, to grasp the latest scientific and technological achievements, to change the backward situation, the experimental course which the new DSP processor is as the core of must be set up for students in universities.Although some domestic companies provide a number of experimental products based on the new DSP, the peripheral configuration of the teaching systems is not perfect, the application range is small, and the price is high. They are difficultly applied to teaching, and not suitable as a teaching system. In this paper, in order to enhance the studying of DSP technology, a floating-point DSP experimental system for teaching based on TMS320C6722 is studied and designed. This system which takes TMS320C6722 floating-point DSP as the data processing core, STM32F103ZET6 ARM as the control core, and combines with other analog devices is designed from the universal perspective. It can not only control A/D, D/A, DDS, audio and so on, but also simulate the transmission and demodulation.of high-speed railway track signal.Firstly, in this paper, the current DSP technology development at home and abroad is analyzed. The necessity of designing the experiment system is proposed. Secondly, the hardware structure of the entire experimental system is described. The designing ideas and methods of the hardware circuit are detailedly analyzed on the basis of studying the principles and characteristics of dual-CPU. Thirdly, the program design of control unit is detailedly analyzed for achieving the control functions of system, including DDS, LCD, keyboard control and communication protocol between the CPUs. Fourthly, according to the features of TMS320C6722, a number of innovative comprehensive experiments are designed, including some algorithms (FIR, FFT, convolution) and the control of A/D, D/A and audio devices. The configuration methods of the devices, the considerations of software compilation and basic routine are proposed for the specific device. Finally, the development direction and goals of experimental system are described.This experimental system is designed with rich interface, powerful function and stable performance. Due to the unique design and use of the latest technology, it can fully mobilize the enthusiasm of the students, exercise actual beginning ability, and broaden horizons, which will enhance integrated design ability of the students. The experimental system can fully be used as the teaching experimental system of real-time floating-point DSP, particularly as a research platform of the related subject in railway track signals.
