Research Of PBT Technology In Carrier Ethernet

Recently, as the IP-based business developed, Ethernet has evolved toward MAN and WAN gradually. With the growing of business and data generated by Ethernet rapidly, Ethernet Transport technology has been developed and applied rapidly. Especially, the demand of―carrier-grade‖Ethernet services has become hot. All of these attract Telecom operators and equipment developers extensive attention.Carrier-grade Ethernet is the latest step in the three-decade development of Ethernet. This work describes the evolution of Ethernet technology from LAN toward a carrier-grade operation, and makes a comprehensive research and analysis of the latest transport technology—PBT. OAM function is very important in telecommunication network, which can simplify network operation, reduce the network operation costs. PBT technique provides rich OAM function, including path continuity check,fault location,performance management,configuration management. This paper analyzes the various technical and standards that guarantee OAM function, and designs software to simulate OAM function, which verifies OAM standards.
