New migrant workers are particular outcome during the urbanization process in China. The difficulties in training and employment are always critical obstacles for their immigrant lives in cities. Due to the specialties of migrant life, the education and training system of new migrant workers are not well established in China. Chinese cities are not able to offer a proper studying condition for new migrant workers which have strong demanding in learning. Recently, the so-called mobile learning is taken into account as an effective way to solve the learning problems of new migrant workers, owning to the rapid development of mobile internet. In this work, we are trying to investigate the mobile learning for the new migrant workers both theoretically and practically. Theoretical analysis contains adult learning theory, learning style theory and learner-centered mobile learning theory. Practical research is divided into several parts. First, learning situation of migrant workers is preliminary studied by using paper research method. Second, interview and observation method is used to discuss the learning behavior of new migrant workers from Learner-centered teaching theory. According to learning motivation, various learning behaviors are classified, so that 25 needs of learning are summarized. Third, four different types of typical prototype of learners are introduced by persona. And then, based on Learner-centered teaching theory mobile learning design principle and four typical prototypes of learners, we explore the proper mobile learning mode for new migrant workers and design the guideline of our work. Finally, one persona is chosen for designing a mobile learning software interface.
