Researches on well-being is the trendency of positive psychology, both individual factorsand environmental factors can influence people's well-being. Social support has been shown tobe uniquely associated with well-being, but there were differences between enacted socialsupport and perceived social support, and the latter predicted one's physical and nentalcondition better. What's more, the newly researches have found that self-compassion alsoplay a key role in explaining well-being, which is a construct from Buddhist thought andwas proposed by western psychologist, it was defined as a healthy attitude toward oneself.So, this study choosed perceived social support and self-compassion as predictor variablesof well-being. Based on stunmarizing the doeuments of compassion-contemplation ofBuddhism, as well as the investigation of open-ended questionnaire, we constructed thetheoretical hypothesis and futher designed a preliminary questionnaire of self-compassionon college students. Then, the relationship between perceived social support,self-compassion and well-being was tested. The conclusions are as follows:1. College students' self-compassion is a multidimensional construct, it consisted oftwo factors.2. College students' perceived social support, self-compassion and well-being mainlyinfluenced by gender, grade, whether they're the only children and whether from city orcountry.3. College students' perceived social support predicted well-being significantly.4. College students' self-compassion predicted well-being significantly.5. College students' perceived social support predicted self-compassion significantly.6. College students' self-compassion play a mediated role between perceived socialsupport and well-being.
