In recent years, with the large coverage of mobile network technology, especially the development of 4G technology and the popularity of smart phones, social networks are increasingly favored by the world, its speed of development and the spread of a wide range have become an unstoppable trend. There are existing various social networking sites,in foreign countries mainly are Twitter and Facebook,in China mainly are WeChat,Weibo,QQ,Renren, etc.,of which WeChat has become the most popular social networking site, especially among college students. On the one hand, social networking sites can make people's live more colorful and more convenient,as well as can promote the user's mental health to the certain extent; On the other hand, inappropriate use of social networking sites can cause great damage to individual psychological health, and even lead to problematic social networking site usage or addiction.Although,in recent years, there have been more and more researchers from the viewpoint of psychology, studied the problematic SNS usage, almost all of the existing research only focused on the negative consequences of problematic SNS use and a few studies on the causes of problematic SNS use, that is,the risk and protective factors of the problematic SNS use are numbered. Therefore,in order to scientifically prevent and effectively control the problematic SNS use,it is necessary to explore the influential factors of the problematic SNS use and its internal mechanism. This study aims to take the problematic WeChat usage as an example and construct a moderated mediation model to simultaneously investigate the effects of risk factors(perceived stress, negative affect)and protective factors(psychological resilience, perceived social support)on college students' problematic SNS use and its internal mechanism. This study used Perceived Stress Scale,Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale,Perceived Social Support Scale,Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale,State Anxiety Scale and Social Networking Sites Invasion Scale(WeChat edition)and 641 full–time college students of three universities in Chongqing(Mage = 19.90,SD = 1.370)were investigated by the questionnaires. The results showed that:(1)Perceived stress and negative affect were positively related with problematic SNS use;Perceived stress was positively related with negative affect;(2)Negative affect played a fully mediated role between perceived stress and problematic SNS use, that is,perceived stress had indirect effects on problematic SNS use entirely through negative affect;(3)Perceived social support and psychological resilience were negatively related with perceived stress and negative affect;Perceived social support and psychological resilience were not significantly associated with problematic SNS use.(4)Psychological resilience was a moderator of negative affect mediating perceived stress and problematic SNS use. That is,psychological resilience moderated the first stage of the mediation process.Specifically, the effect of perceived stress on negative affect decreased with the increase of psychological resilience. In other words, indirect effects were more significant for individuals with lower psychological resilience than individuals with higher psychological resilience.(5)Perceived social support had no moderating effect on the indirect effects of perceived stress on the problematic SNS use.All in all, this study mainly investigated the risk and protective factors of college students' problematic SNS use and its internal mechanism, and put forward a moderated mediation model to reveal perceived stress ?how? to make influence on problematic SNS use and ?when? is the effect stronger or weaker. Thus,we can make effective interventions for college students' problematic SNS use and can provide a new intervention perspective for relevant workers in the field of psychological counseling to cope with stress, problematic SNS use, related emotional and behavioral problems among college students.
