Measure words are a special characteristic of the Sino-Tibetan family of languages. Teaching measure words to students studying Chinese as a second language is a prominently difficult key point in language study. Current research in measure words is imbalanced with the results of applied research obviously lacking in compare to theoretical research; the lack of applied research in this field does not produce adequate results that can apply directly to learners of Chinese as a second language. This article studies verb-form measure words in teaching Chinese as a second language with the goal of providing a clear basis and method of which to teach verb-form measure words to foreign students while simultaneously providing new research and arguments for continued development in Chinese measure words.This article's object is focused on thirteen verb-form measure words found in the "Chinese Level Vocabulary and Character Rank Program" which are:把ba,张zhang,封feng,包bao,架jia,'pai,批pi,串chuan,堆dui,卷juan,束shu,摊tan, and套tao. This article consists of five parts. The first part covers the significance of this article, the aim of this study, and introduces the study and results of previous research into verb-form measure words. The second part will first study the source and classification of verb-form measure words, then talk about these features in grammar, and finally discuss semantic nature and semantic cognition. The third part analyzes and appraises the arrangement of verb-form measure words in "Learned Chinese" and "Development Chinese" which are two teaching materials. The fourth part analyzes and presents statistics prepared from a questionnaire, regarding the acquisition and influence of verb-form measure words, given to fourth year foreigner undergraduate students of Chinese at North East Normal University. The fifth part discusses the application of this article towards the acquisition of teaching comprehension in verb-form measure words by compiling teaching methods, teaching materials, and teaching ability.
