Learning Chinese characters plays an important role in teaching Chinese as a foreign language,but it also becomes the most consuming and exhausting content to foreigners. European and American students'learning process is shackled by huge distinction between Chinese and western backgrounds.This paper comes to understand how European and American students' learning Chinese characters,and then aims to analyze the error of second language acquisition during the collection of teaching,based on the cognitive characteristics of the students'learning process and how they try to learn.Find out the difficulties of cognizing Chinese characters from different language backgrounds and discuss the acquisition strategies of different degrees of European and American students. Thereby it can better instruct the learners to understand and cognize Chinese characters in a better way.
