Adjective reduplication is not only a common linguistic phenomenon in Chinese, but also one of the difficult grammar points in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. But so far, most researches on Chinese adjective reduplication are confined to the reduplication itself, it is rare to see researches on European and American students’ acquisition of Chinese adjective reduplication. Therefore, this thesis takes European and American students as research object and uses the perspective of teaching of Chinese as a foreign language to know the learning of European and American students. The first chapter mainly summarizes the research status of Chinese adjective reduplication, and introduces the research objectives, research methods and corpus source of this thesis. The second chapter mainly summarizes the syntax and semantic features of Chinese adjective reduplication, then investigates and analyzes its distribution in different textbooks, finally collects the natural corpus of its using among European and American students. The third chapter mainly explains the questionnaire in detail, analyzes the test result and concludes the main types of bias and error in the acquisition of Chinese adjective reduplication. The fourth chapter analyzes the causes of the types of bias and error mentioned above, and makes corresponding suggestions to teaching and textbook based on the interlanguage theory and error analysis theory, hoping to improve the accuracy andusage rate of Chinese adjective reduplication by European and American students. The fifth chapter is the conclusion part, mainly describes the research conclusion of this thesis and the problems needed to be further studied.
