Vocabulary teaching is always the difficulty of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, especially in intermediate and advanced stage. In this stage, learner has accomplished the learning of intonation as well as getting hold of fundamental grammar rules. A quick development of the skills of speech communication is the primary mission to the learner. Glossary is the foundation of speech communication. For a long time, we are following the step of western linguistics and language teaching theory, took"word"as the basic unit of language teaching, which didn't get the ideal effect in the intermediate and advanced stage when learner had to face to a condition of a large vocabulary, a lot of synonyms and more complicated meaning of the words. Because the"word-base teaching method"didn't match the features of Chinese.This article begin with the noumenon of Chinese, after carding and comparing the different standard- theories, propose the opinion of"morpheme- standard"which is combined with the teaching practice, according to analyzing and comparing the errors happened in the process of the word-acquisition, emphasize the superiority and importance of"morpheme- standard"to word-teaching in intermediate and advanced stage. Finally generalize the word-teaching principles and strategies in this stage.
