Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera is one of the most important musician in the Latin American musical culture of the twentieth century. He was not only an outstanding music educator and social activist, but a great composer. In his life, he created many outstanding musical works, while his piano works occupy an important position. Piano Suite "Twelve American Prelude" is one of the most outstanding works in his early creation period. It is an classic work which combine Argentine folk music, modern composition techniques and his personal characteristics.This essay includes an introduction, text and conclusion based on the research of his Piano Suite "Twelve American Prelude". The introduction outlines Ginastera's life, creative period and the development of music culture in Argentina. The text divides three parts. The first part analyses the playing techniques of this work from the perspective of monotony, chord and octave playing method. The second part researches the playing rhythm, speed of the work, emotional grasp. The third part analyses the use of pedals. The conclusion part indicates some enlightenment that his work influence in the piano performance and teaching.
