ObjectiveTo probe into expressions of p53 protein, p16 protein as well as nm23 protein, and the correlation between expression of p53 protein, p16 protein as well as nm23 protein and clinical pathological factors of lung cancer as well as prognosis, rendering an impersonalevidence for the early diagnosis, early therapy, and prognosis estimation.MethodsThe expressions of p53 protein, p16 protein and nm23 protein were detected in 100 lung cancer as well as 18 bronchiectasis tissue cases by means of S-P immunohistochemical technique. Subsequently, the follow-up visit was made to the lung cancer patients after operation in more than five years.Results1. The expression rate of p53 protein and nm23 protein in NSCLC tissue was higher than that in bronchiectasis one dramatically; while the expression rate of p16 in NSCLC tissue was lower than that in bronchiectasis one apparently.2. The expression rate of p53 protein was higher in positive group with lymph node metastasis than that in negative one, which was not correlated with gender, lung cancer histology typing, degree of cell differentiation, tumor size, broken end infiltration, and certain part of tumors of patients apparently.3. The positive expression rate of p16 protein was higher in adenocarcinoma than that in squamous-cell carcinoma; in highly differentiated group than that in poorly differentiated one; in group without lymph node metastasis than that with one; in broken end negative group than that in positive one, which was not correlated with gender, tumor size, and certain part of tumors of patients apparently.4. The positive expression rate of nm23 protein was higher in highly differentiated group than that in poorly differentiated one, which was not correlated with gender, lymph node metastasis, degree of cell differentiation, tumor size, broken end infiltration, and certain part of tumors of patients apparently.5. There was negative correlation between the expression of p53 protein and p16 protein in NSCLC tissue, while no correlation between nm23 protein and p53 protein or between nm23 protein and p16 protein in NSCLC tissue.6. The higher the positive expression rate of p53 protein in adenocarcinoma and squamous-cell carcinoma was, the shorter patients would survive after operation, while p16 protein was just the other way. Addionally, the positive expression rate of nm23 protein in adenocarcinoma and squamous-cell carcinoma was not correlated with survival time of patients after operation.7. Survival time of patients with abnormal expressions of both p53 protein and p16 protein was shorter than that with merely one of them apparently and also that with the two normal ones after operation.Conclusions1. p53 protein and nm23 protein display a high expression in NSCLC tissue, while p16 protein low one.2. The positive expression rate of p53 protein is high in group with lymph node metastasis. Also, the positive expression rate of p16 protein is higher in adenocarcinoma than that in squamous-cell carcinoma; in moderately or highly differentiated group than that in poorly differentiated one; in group without lymph node metastasis than that with one; in broken end negative group than that in positive one. Besides, the positive expression rate of nm23 protein is higher in moderately or highly differentiated group than that in poorly differentiated one3. The expression of protein p53 and protein p16 is correlated negatively in NSCLC tissue.4. The expression rates of p53 protein and nm23 protein are correlated with prognosis intimately, which may serve as a significant indicator for predicting the prognosis of lung cancer patients.
