Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of 1A6, p53 and nm23 in human colorectal carcinoma. Methods: Using S-P immunohistochemistry method to examine the expression of 1A6, p53 and nm23 in the specimens of 50 cases with colorectal carcinoma and 50 cases with normal mocosa. Results: The 1A6 positive rate correlates with the degree of tumor differeniation. No significant correlation is found between 1A6 expression and lymphocytic infiltration, Dukes stage or the depth of infiltration. The positive immunostaining rate of p53 is significantly higher in the colorectal carcinoma (78%) than in the normal mucosa (0) (P<0.05). The expression of p53 correlates with Dukes stage, lymphocytic infiltration and the degree of tumor differeniation. The p53 positive rates in stages Dukes A+ B, Dukes C+ D are 63% and 95.7% respectively. The incidence of p53 expression is significantly lower in stage Dukes A+ B than in stages Dukes C+D. The p53 positive rate is lower in these cases with negative lymphocytic infiltration(63%) than those with positive lymphocytic infiltration (95.7%) (P<0.05). The p53 positive rates in well differentiated adenocarcinoma, moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma and poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma are 40%, 87% and 88.2% respectively. In addition, there is positive correlation between the expression of p53 and the degree of tumor differeniation. P53 expression has no correlation with the depth of infiltration of colorectal carcinoma. The nm23 positive rate is significantly higher in the colorectal carcinoma (74%) than in the normal mucosa (44%) (P<0.05). The nm23 positive rates in stages Dukes A+B, Dukes C+D are 63% and 95.7% respectively. The expression of nm23 in stages Dukes A+B is higher than in stages...
