Objective:To investigate the therapeutic effect of Kangfuxin solution on acute experimental colitis induced by dextrin sulfate sodium (DSS) in rats.Methods:Forty-five adult male SD rats were randomly divided into three groups:normal control group, model getup, and Kangfuxin solution-treated group. Acute experimental colitis model was established by 3% DSS in model group and Kangfuxin solution-treated group. All rats were sacrificed 9 days later. Disease activity index (DAI), score of histological injury and activity of intestinal tissue myeloperoxidase (MPO) were determined. Results:Compared with model getup, DAI and score of histological injury in Kangfuxin solution-treated group decreased significantly (P<0.01), and activity of MPO decreased significantly (P<0.01).Conclusions:1. Kangfuxin solution may ameliorate acute experimental colitis induced by DSS in rats, and alleviate the diarrhea and bloody stool.2. Kangfuxin solution can significantly reduce the acute rats induced DSS mucosal damage, and promote colon damage repair reduce intraepithelial goblet cells and fossae, reduce the destruction of mainly neutrophils infiltrating, improve inflammatory cells of acute inflammation tissue pathology change3. Kangfuxin solution can significantly inhibited DSS of acute experimental colitis induced the rat colon tissue myeloperoxidase activity.4. Inhibition of MMP-3 and MMP-13 expressions may be one of the mechanisms of Kangfuxin solution. |
