AIM:To observe the clinical effect of scalp acupuncture & Brunnstrom facilitation techniques therapy on convalescence hemiplegic patients with ischemic stroke.METHODS:90 patients with convalescence hemiplegic patients with ischemic stroke were randomly divided into therapy scalp acupuncture group(30 cases), facilitation techniques therapy group(30 cases) and scalp acupuncture & facilitation techniques therapy group(30 cases). The scores of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS), simple Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) and Activities of Daily Living(ADL) were examined before and after the treatment systematically.RESULTS:①After treatment, there were remarkable decreases in scores of NIHSS among three groups. And the total effective rate of C group(86.7%) better than A group(83.4%) and B group(76.7%) (P < 0.01).②After treatment, there were remarkable increases in scores of FMA of upper limb of hemiplegic body(P< 0.05). And improvement of scores of B group better than A group(P<0.05) and that of C group better than A group(P< 0.01). While there were unremarkable differences of scores between B group and C group (P > 0.05).③After treatment, there were remarkable increases in scores of FMA of lower limb of hemiplegic body(P<0.01). And improvement of scores of A group and C group better than B group(P < 0.01). While there were unremarkable differences of scores between A group and C group (P> 0.05).④After treatment, there were remarkable increases in scores of BI of hemiplegic body(P < 0.01). And improvement of scores of C group better than A group and B group(P<0.01). While there were unremarkable differences of scores between A group and B group(P> 0.05).CONCLUSION:The rehabilitation effect of convalescence hemiplegic patients with ischemic stroke was increased effectively and the rate of deformity of them was reduced by means of the treatment of scalp acupuncture & Brunnstrom facilitation techniques.
